Robert Brewer photographs, 1975-1991.

The photographs in this collection stem from Brewer's collaboration with Steve McDowell, which produced a book titled, "The Persistence of Memory: New Mexico's Churches." McDowell holds a journalism degree from the University of New Mexico and lived in Santa Fe. The 77 photographs include primarily 4x5-inch black and white negatives, color negatives, and color transparencies. Also included are one 5x7-inch black and white negative of the interior of the church of Nuestra Señora de la Purificación in Doña Ana, New Mexico, and one 35mm color transparency.

Robert J. Brewer, a former seminary student, holds a master of fine arts degree from the Chicago Art Institute. He came to New Mexico in 1974 to earn summer credit.
